Van Amersfoort Racing Appoints Otmar Szafnauer as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner
Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) announces the appointment of Otmar Szafnauer as Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Partner effective 1 February 2026. With more than three decades of experience in international motorsport, including successfully leading a number of Formula 1 Teams. Szafnauer brings extensive operational and strategic expertise to VAR at a key stage in its development. This appointment marks the next step in VAR’s 50-year journey as the team continues to build for the future.
Leadership Structure and Continuity
Following the transition of Frits van Amersfoort and Rob Niessink from operational roles, VAR has continued to operate under a strengthened senior management structure led by Brad Joyce, Team Principal, supported by Klaudija Jakaj, Francisco Freitas, and Anneleen Walch.
Otmar Szafnauer will guide and work closely with this leadership team to ensure continued success, on and off track improvement, and support the organization’s strategic objectives. The Board of Directors sees this appointment as an important step in supporting VAR’s continued progress across its racing programmes in FIA Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula Regional European Championship (FREC), and Formula 4.
