
Strong season opener for Van Amersfoort Racing with 1–2 finish in Melbourne
The 2026 Formula 3 season got off to a strong start last weekend in Melbourne, where Van Amersfoort Racing immediately showed competitive pace. The team enjoyed an excellent opening round, highlighted by a dominant 1–2 finish in the Formula 3 Sprint Race. With strong performances across the weekend, VAR leaves Australia leading the Formula 3 team championship, a very promising start to the new campaign.
Starting from pole position in the sprint race, Bruno made a perfect getaway. Close behind him starting from P2 Enzo also got off the line well. After an early safety car in lap 1, Bruno and Enzo showed confident pace. They managed the race well and kept the field behind throughout the race. The pair crossed the line securing an impressive 1–2 finish, putting Van Amersfoort Racing firmly in the spotlight right at the start of the season.


The momentum carried into Sunday’s Feature Race, where the team once again demonstrated solid pace. Starting from 12th on the grid, Bruno quickly began making progress through the pack, already making up two places in the opening laps to move from 12th to 10th, followed by several clean overtakes. Enzo showed good pace as well, steadily gaining positions as the race unfolded. Hiyu also delivered an impressive drive, starting from 22nd on the grid and making several strong overtakes to climb up to 11th. With consistent lap times and smart moves throughout the race, Bruno and Enzo crossed the line in P6 and P8. Following post-race penalties for other drivers, they were promoted to an impressive P4 finish for Bruno and P6 for Enzo.

With a race victory, a 1–2 finish and a strong haul of championship points collected in Melbourne, Van Amersfoort Racing now leads the Formula 3 team standings and can look back on a great weekend.
