Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) looks back at a memorable premiere evening on the 29th of November, in Singer Laren, showcasing the about-to-be-released documentary to the world for the first time. Luckily, everyone else will now also have the opportunity to experience the documentary containing five decades of VAR’s racing passion, teamwork and ambition from the comfort of their homes, as the documentary will be aired on Dutch television on the 6th and 7th of December.

The premiere took place at Singer Laren, a location deeply rooted in our history as Frits grew up in Laren, brought together guests, partners, and long-time friends of the team. It was wonderful to be able to experience the first screening all together with the people that have poured their heart and soul into the team through the years. The night was filled with laughter, reminiscing and pride, which made it all the more special. This multiple decade journey is unforgettable and we’re thankful to have it documented to look back at for years to come.

The evening got even better when members of our team announced our upcoming VAR50 exhibition, in the Louwman museum, on the podium to Frits and Rob after the screening during the premiere night. The exhibition, which takes place from the 19th of December until the 18th of January, was a surprise for them. A teaser video was shown, during which the crowd found out about it at the same time as Frits and Rob, creating an enthusiastic and beautiful moment for all.

Produced by Mark Koense and his talented crew, the VAR50 Documentary follows the evolution of VAR since its founding in 1975. With unseen archive material, behind-the-scenes footage, and personal interviews with old VAR drivers like Max Verstappen, his dad Jos Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and of course the founders themselves: Frits Van Amersfoort and Rob Niessink. The documentary highlights the most memorable moments through the years. The people who shaped it, the talents it nurtured, and the dedication that continues to define the team today.

From Frits van Amersfoort’s early days in the original garage in Laren, to guiding young drivers who would later rise to the peak of global motorsport, the documentary brings our 50-year story to life with authenticity and emotion. For the team, it serves as a powerful reminder of how far we have come and of the countless individuals who contributed to this remarkable journey. We are proud that racing fans across the country will soon be able to watch the documentary themselves, and celebrate our anniversary together with us that way.
