Rafael Villagómez, born in León, Mexico, is a promising young talent in the world of motorsport. From a young age, Rafael showed a keen interest in racing, starting his career in karting at just 9 years old. In 2019, his final year in karting, he won the prestigious Richard Mille Young Talent Academy competition.
This success provided a solid foundation for his transition to formula racing, debuting in the British Formula 4 Championship in 2020. With his dedication and competence, Rafael quickly advanced to FIA Formula 3 in 2021, and after three seasons, he stepped up to FIA Formula 2 in 2024. In 2025, the Mexican driver stayed in the FIA F2 Championship with VAR to team up alongside John Bennett.
For 2026 Rafael remains with the team as he competes in the FIA Formula 2 Championship alongside Nico Varrone.
