#2 Mechanic - FREC

Van Amersfoort Racing is looking for a motivated and skilled #2 Mechanic to join our FREC team and support the preparation and running of our race cars!

About the role

As a #2 Mechanic within our FREC team at Van Amersfoort Racing, you play an important supporting role in the day-to-day preparation, maintenance, and operation of the race car. You work closely with the Chief Mechanic and the #1 Mechanic, both in the workshop in Zeewolde and at the race track. In a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, you help ensure the car is reliable, safe, and ready to perform at its best during race and test events. This role is an excellent opportunity to further develop your technical skills and gain experience in a professional single-seater racing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the build, preparation, and maintenance of the assigned race car, including suspension, brakes, and drivetrain systems
  • Support packing and unpacking of cars, equipment, and tools before, during, and after events
  • Ensure components are correctly installed, functioning properly, and torqued according to team and manufacturer specifications
  • Support (under high pressure) quick repairs, part replacements, and setup changes during race weekends
  • Prepare tools and equipment for each session, ensuring everything is ready for mechanical work
  • Assist with car setup changes as directed by the #1 Mechanic and Engineers
  • Ensure refuelling is carried out according to the Engineer’s calculations and procedures
  • Work closely with the #1 Mechanic, Engineers, and other team members to execute maintenance plans and resolve technical issues
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the race car and spare parts at the team’s base
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the workshop and at the track
  • Adhere to all FIA safety regulations, technical specifications, and team safety protocols
  • Take responsibility for tyre management in accordance with supplier rules and parc fermé regulations
  • Follow inventory procedures to help ensure spare parts and consumables are sufficiently stocked

About you

  • Education in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience in a similar mechanic role within motorsport or a comparable technical environment is a strong plus
  • Good technical understanding of race car mechanics; experience with single-seaters is an advantage
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with strong teamwork skills
  • Able to work accurately and stay calm under pressure 
  • Good communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus 
  • Flexible and willing to work weekends and travel internationally with the team
  • Eligible to work in the Netherlands (we do not offer relocation or visa sponsorship)
