VAR celebrates podium finish after strong weekend for F3 in Barcelona

The third round of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship took place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where Van Amersfoort Racing once again showed strong pace throughout the weekend. The highlight came on Sunday, when Hiyu Yamakoshi secured an impressive second-place finish in the Feature Race, adding another strong result to VAR’s season so far.

Qualifying already showed the team's potential, with Hiyu delivering an excellent lap to secure third on the grid for the Feature Race. Bruno and Enzo also put themselves in strong positions, qualifying sixth and eighth respectively, giving all three VAR drivers a solid platform for the remainder of the weekend.

Saturday’s Sprint Race provided valuable points and experience for the team. Hiyu fought hard throughout the race to finish inside the points, while Bruno and Enzo remained competitive in the midfield battle around the challenging Barcelona circuit. The trio gathered good points and momentum heading into Sunday’s Feature Race.

Starting from third on the grid in the Feature Race, Hiyu made a strong start and immediately moved up into second place. From there, he showed consistent pace throughout the race, staying close to the leader and keeping the other cars behind. He crossed the line in P2 and also claimed the fastest lap, capping off an excellent weekend. Bruno and Enzo added to the team’s success with solid drives to fifth and sixth place, securing another valuable haul of championship points for VAR.

With a podium finish, fastest lap and three cars scoring points across the weekend, Van Amersfoort Racing leaves Barcelona second in the Teams’ Championship and encouraged by another competitive performance. The team now turns its attention to the next round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship at Spielberg, taking place from 26–28 June.
